Privacy Pirates: Teacher Material

Highlight the idea of digital footprints: the things that you do, say and share online will be part of how people see you.

Ask students:

How would you like to be remembered?

Are there things you are proud of?

Are there things you would like to forget?

Have students access the student chapter Digital Footprints and use the interactive activity to sort the different examples into either things they want to be in their digital footprints or things they don’t want people to remember.

  • If you prefer, you can do this as a whole-class activity.

Ask students to reflect on how they decided which category to put each example in.

Ask students if they have ever done a similar exercise, in class or elsewhere. If so, ask them to reflect on what has changed since the last time they did.
