So Many Choices! Teacher Material

Start by showing students the Course Presentation in the student chapter Animal Facts and Fakes, or have students access it.

Pause after each question slide to let students share their answers, then advance and read the answer slide.

After you have finished, ask:

Did any of the facts surprise them?

Were there any “fakes” they thought were true?

Were some harder to guess than others?

Point out that there was no way to guess some of the facts (like a polar bear’s black skin) if you didn’t already know them, and that some of the real photos (like the giant goldfish) looked less real than some of the “fakes” (like the knitting gorilla.)

  • If you have delivered the lesson What’s in the Frame?, remind students about the House Hippo video. Is a tiny hippo harder to believe in than a giant goldfish?

Now ask students: If you don’t know if something is real, how can you find out?
