Privacy Pirates: Teacher Material
Start by asking students:
If you are playing an online game with other people, what might the people you’re playing with know about you?
If you are watching a video online, what might the video company know about you?
If you send someone a picture or video with you in it, what might the people who see it know about you?
Make sure to highlight some things people in a game might know about you:
- The things you say in the chat
- Your username
- Your avatar or profile picture
and some things that a video company might know about you:
- What videos you browsed or searched for
- What videos you watched
- Whether you watched the videos all the way through, skipped parts, or stopped watching
and some things that people who see a photo or video might know about you:
- What you look like
- What you were doing in the picture or video
- Anything that’s in the background behind you, like pets or family members
