Aladin
The silent video begins with a scene of a set with an arched doorway, a red curtain, and shelves filled with vases and other items. A title card reads “Aladin’s dream.” A man in a colorful outfit, Aladin, is sleeping on a chair. We see his dream on the screen above him, as he dreams of a beautiful princess dressed in white. Next, the scene shifts, and the title ‘Aladin rencontre la princesse’ is displayed on a black background, followed by ‘Aladdin meets the princess.’ The scene then moves to an outdoor setting with buildings and people.
Aladin is seen is standing on a street, trying to talk to the princess as she rides by on a horse. He then meets a magician who speaks to him. The scene goes to an outdoor with a large boulder and painted mountains. Aladin and the magician enter. The magician makes a trap door in front of the rock rise and Aladin climbs down into a chamber. Coins fill out of urns, which briefly seem to have angry faces. He goes into another chamber and finds a gold lamp, which he takes away with him.
Aladin emerges from the trap door with the lamp and returns to his home. He rubs the lamp and a genie appears who is green, scaly and at least seven feet tall. Aladin tugs at his clothes. The genie gestures and fancy clothes appear on Aladin. Aladin points at the wall of his home and the genie turns them into a beatiful colourful setting.
We next see an ornate setting, featuring several golden pillars, and steps leading up to a group of people in colorful clothes. Aladin enters and speaks to the guards.A horse is brought to him and he climbs on to its back and rides off.
In another scene, we see him brought to the princess along with many treasures. The princess’s father brings her to Aladin and they join hands. He kneels on one knee and kisses her hand, and they then walk off screen.
The scene changes to a different location where we see Aladin and the princess dismount the horse. They enter into Aladin’s house, which is now a palace, followed by many servants in red robes. Aladin places the lamp on a shelf and bows down to it.
The film then cuts to a title card that reads “Le Magicien Vole La Lampe” (the magician steals the lamp). We then see the magician standing outside Aladin’s house and going inside. In the house, he takes the lamp and rubs it. A small magical creature with green wings appear and the two of them go to where Aladin and the princess are eating. The magician and the magical creature take the princess away and leave the magician there. Aladin’s house now looks like it did before.
The film cuts to a title card that reads “Triomphe d’Aladin” (Aladin’s triumph). We see Aladin leave his house, where he meets a beggar in the street. He gives money to the beggar, who changes into a a woman in white robes. She waves her hand and Aladin’s clothes turn bright and colourful again. He goes into the magician’s house, where the princess is fighting with the magician. He pushes the magician away from her and the princess hits the magician, knocking him out. Aladin picks up the lamp and then we cut to see Aladin and the princess getting married.
