Stop Motion Post Production
We are looking at a Stop Motion Studio app interface, where a stop-motion animation is being edited; the primary scene features a background with watercolor paintings depicting trees and a kangaroo, set on a stage-like surface; throughout the video, we see various objects being added to the scene, including two cone-shaped figures, a giraffe, and modifications being made using the app’s tools.
The timeline at the bottom of the screen displays thumbnails of the frames in sequence, while editing tools line the top. The creator navigates through the animation, then taps the microphone icon on the user interface, allowing the app to access the microphone. She proceeds to record dialogue, and a recording starts, then the dialogue ‘oh, hello there’ is heard. A musical note symbol now appears below the corresponding frame, then the speaker says she will now freeze this sound effect onto the picture to make it last for a number of frames. After that, the creator records dialogue saying ‘Do you want to go for ice cream?’ then freezes the recording for 39 frames.
The speaker demonstrates adding theme music, choosing a ‘cute’ tune, and recording a ‘slurp’ sound effect to enhance the animation, navigating through several editing screens; we hear the audio being tested before the speaker focuses on adding titles and credits, changing the text to ‘A New Friend’, deleting unwanted elements, and finally, adding a credit screen stating that the animation was made by ‘Jessie’; the speaker is then heard exiting the app, selecting the edited video, and beginning to share it to her computer through AirDrop, which will render as an .mov file; all video is stop motion with a small stage set.
