We begin by observing a cityscape at dusk, its many buildings faintly illuminated in the gathering darkness, as a voice narrates that thirty-seven million Canadians are turning out their lights. Then, a silhouette of a house is lit from within, before the scene transitions to a view from inside the house, looking through a partially opened door, a white door that’s ajar, offering a view into a room with a bright light. The scene then shifts, with someone on camera moving from one room to another, following a little hippo, and a low angle of a pair of white canvas shoes, with the little hippo inside one of the shoes.

We’re shown a small, grey hippo looking into a mirror in a dimly lit room, followed by it crouching near a pile of white socks, then seemingly engaging with a tablet device; the footage reveals a sleeping pug next to the hippo, still in a dimly lit environment, and finally, the hippo is seen in a dog’s water dish.

A voiceover then asks, ‘Or do we?’, as the scene changes to an indoor shot looking down at a small hippo on a white circular base, the hippo coming to life and looking into the camera; green smoke erupts from behind the hippo, and then the hippo logo appears, and the text “BreaktheFake.ca” is shown above the logo and below is the Media Smarts emblem.

Slide ten:

We see two men tossing markers into a pitcher. They get more and more excited as they throw more and more markers into the pitcher. Then the camera pulls away from the men and the pitcher. We can now see a third man who is dropping markers into the pitcher. He was the one who made it look like the others were throwing markers into the pitcher.
