How to Build a Fire – WikiHow

The video opens with a close-up of a small campfire built on bare ground, surrounded by dry leaves and twigs. The wikiHow logo appears in the upper left corner. The video then transitions to a ground-level view of a forest floor covered with leaves and twigs, then cuts to a wide shot of bare ground where a small teepee structure made of twigs is already prepared. A dashed white line appears with the text ‘6 ft (1.8 m)’ to emphasize safe distance to build a fire. A hand wearing a white glove then enters the frame, clearing dry leaves and twigs from a patch of ground. The video cuts to a red plastic bucket filled with water and a pile of gravel nearby, emphasizing having an action plan in place for extinguishing the fire.

We then see the initial teepee structure smoking. The video then shifts to showcase the three types of materials needed to build a fire: a pile of shredded bark, dried leaves, and grass for tinder; small sticks and branches for kindling; and larger logs for fuel wood. A gloved hand assembles a ball of tinder and places it in the center of a cleared area, adding kindling around it in a teepee formation or stacking the kindling in a criss-cross pattern. We then see fuel wood pieces leaned against the teepee structure.

A gloved hand then holds a lit lighter near the tinder to ignite it. A woman wearing a dark t-shirt gently blows on the flames to help them spread. After the tinder is lit, it ignites the kindling and then the fuel wood. The video shows the fully lit campfire against a forest background, transitioning to a night scene as the fire burns steadily.
