Survivor Fire Challenge

A scene from the reality TV show ‘Survivor’, set outdoors at night, dimly lit, with a campfire providing much of the illumination.

First, we see a man in a white shirt and jeans speaking, then the camera focuses on an Asian woman as she looks off camera and a man with a goatee. Then, we see a montage of different tribe members writing with a quill.

The man in the white shirt begins to announce the votes; we see the other tribe members sitting on wood steps around the campfire. First, he says the vote is for Becky and then another for Sandra. He then continues reading the votes, announcing “Becky”, and then “We are in fact tied. Two votes each’. The man then asks the tribe member, “Do either of you have the hidden immunity idol?”

The tribe members state that they do not, so the man states, “we will move to a tiebreaker”.

Then we are transported to a different setting where there are 2 people at a fire making station and instructed that they will each have to make a fire and whomever makes a fire with flame high enough to burn through the rope first and ring a bell will become the winner. We see these two tribe members beginning to create fire, while the rest of the tribe and jury observes. At 30 minutes and then 1 hour, we see that both tribe members are still working to create fire.

We see that Sandra seems to have had to stop making fire after an elapsed time of 1 hour due to fatigue and Becky continues to make a fire by herself.
