Critical Thinking: Three Questions to Ask Yourself
The video begins with a magenta-colored background, in the center of which the words ‘Critical Thinking’ appear in a blue-colored font, set inside a horizontal gold-colored rectangle. A drawing of a brain then appears in the scene above the words and a yellow-colored magnifying glass appears and surrounds the words and brain, as we move to the next scene, which shows a row of three social media posts as seen through the same magnifying glass. We can then see the white text ‘Info that supports their point of view’ also appearing on a magenta-colored screen through the same magnifying glass. The next scene then moves to three white lines, which suddenly join together to create a chat box shape on the left side of the screen.
The chat box shows the number three inside with the word ‘Questions’ written below it. On the right side of the screen, the face of a middle-aged man appears, with dark hair, brown skin, a pensive expression and the question ‘What do I already know about this topic?’ written next to it. The man remains in the shot and the text changes to ‘Why do I want to believe this?’ Then the text changes again to ‘What would make me change my mind?’
The scene then changes back to another chat box, which suddenly forms on the left side of the screen. Three web browser pages with a photograph of Bigfoot on each, appear in the scene. The text ‘Don’t stop at one source’ appears written on the screen as each photo is marked with a red X, and the webpage changes to one with the Snopes logo on the top. The Hippo’s shadow image appears next, along with the teal-colored phrase ‘breakthefake.ca’. The video ends with the logo for ‘Media Smarts’ in black against a white background, with a string of colored circle’s above it.
