(This is different from an open network, where anyone can see whatever you post.)\n<ul>\n \t<li>This means that it\u2019s a good place to connect with friends and family, but not necessarily the best place to reach people you don\u2019t know \u2013 or to share things anonymously.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n \t<li>The standard format on Facebook is a post from your account. That can include an image or an embedded video.\n<ul>\n \t<li>Because it appears in your feed, it\u2019s connected to you in a way that it might not be on some other platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n \t<li>Facebook lets you block users and also lets you limit the audience \u2013 everything from \u201canyone on Facebook\u201d to \u201cjust me\u201d \u2013 for everything on your account and for each individual post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nNow have students look at some other popular [pb_glossary id=\"1171\"]platforms [\/pb_glossary] to compare them on the same criteria.\n\nYou can have each student analyze a platform on their own, or assign different platforms to different groups.\n<div class=\"textbox textbox--exercises\"><header class=\"textbox__header\">\n<p class=\"textbox__title\"><strong>Here are some examples of platforms popular with young Canadians, according to MediaSmarts' research:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"textbox__content\">\n<ul>\n \t<li>YouTube<\/li>\n \t<li>TikTok<\/li>\n \t<li>Instagram<\/li>\n \t<li>Snapchat<\/li>\n \t<li>Discord<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nIf students aren't sure how to answer a question, have them look for the platform\u2019s Community Guidelines, or do a search for its name and \u201cCommunity Guidelines.\u201d\n\nWhen students have finished, have them share their analysis with the class.
